The Super Bowl is the championship for the National Football League (NFL), which is America’s superior football league. The game pits the winner of two conferences, the National Football Conference (NFC) against the American Football Conference (AFC) in the finale. This is an annual event that started in 1967 and is usually played on the first Sunday in February.

The Super Bowl is the most gambled-on sporting event in the United States. The 2020 finale took place at Raymond James Stadium from Tampa, Florida on Feb. 7, 2021.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers destroyed the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs, 31-9. The Bucs easily cashed as three-point underdogs, while quarterback Tom Brady won his record 7th Super Bowl title.

Latest betting lines for 2021 Super Bowl in Tampa Bay

Tom Brady has made it to his 10th Super Bowl.

His Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the first team in NFL history to play a Super Bowl in their home stadium.

And yet, oddsmakers like the Kansas City Chiefs to repeat as champions at the conclusion of Super Bowl LV.

Because as good of a road win as the Bucs had in Green Bay, thanks to the ineptitude of the Packers down the stretch, the 43-year-old Brady showed flaws in the victory.

Let’s take a look at the latest odds, via BetMGM (as of Monday, Jan. 25, 2021).

Super Bowl LV winner: Kansas City Chiefs

(Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports)

Current money line: -175.

Current point spread: Chiefs -3.5.

Here’s why: The Chiefs dismantled a good Buffalo Bills team and they’re the defending champs. Look for Patrick Mahomes to be more on the run with two of his best offensive lineman out for Super Sunday.

Current money line: +150.

Bowl

Current point spread: Buccaneers +3.5.

Here’s why: Well, hell, it’s still Tom Brady in the big game. He’s done OK, OK? Actually, 6-3 with the Patriots. Playing a Super Bowl home game will certainly benefit TB and TB. And remember this call, which has plenty of 11-to-1 Bucs betting fans mighty happy. We’ll find out Feb. 7 how it all unfolds. But real quick: The pick here is KC. And I’ll have you know, that is not because my longtime friend Sam is a diehard Chiefs fan.

Here’s why: The Bucs have averaged over 34 points a game during their last seven games (four regular-season ones and then the last three postseason games). Does anyone believe this Super Bowl is not going to be a shootout? Over 60 sounds correct.

Current UNDER line: 56.5 total points.

Current money line: -110.

Here’s why: If Tampa Bay’s defense gives Patrick Mahomes fits — and the Bucs’ D sure did against Aaron Rodgers — then the Chiefs won’t score their usual 24-30, so there ya go. A loss and under. A 30-24 Bucs win isn’t out of the question, but I still like the over.

Money line and both teams to score 10 or more points

(Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports)

Current lines: Chiefs and Yes on both (-140), Bucs and Yes on both (+125), Chiefs and No on both (+2000), the Bucs and No on both (+3300).

Super

Here’s why: Basically what this means is that oddsmakers don’t believe that either team isn’t going to score at least 10 points, which makes beyond sense. You’ll just have to decide which team to back.

Money line and both teams to score 20 or more points

(Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports)

Current lines: Chiefs and Yes on both (+145), Bucs and Yes on both (+210), Chiefs and No on both (+360), Bucs and No on both (+575).

Here’s why: This may be the sweet spot because you’re getting better than even money on any one of these bets. Figure it out. Go for it. However …

Money line and both teams to score 30 or more points

(Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports)

Current lines: Chiefs and No on both (+115), Bucs and No on both (+195), Chiefs and Yes on both (+360), the Bucs and No on both (+575).

Here’s why: … what’s not to like about taking the Chiefs or Bucs here, especially if you think 30 is the magic number, meaning an over-60 point, socially-distancing, non-buffet Super Bowl of fun? Worst case scenario, maybe, possibly (as always, who really knows — refs?) is a push? Beats me, but best of luck out there over the next two weeks as you mull it over.
